Charlotte Spiral is the collaborative moniker of London-based musicians Amy Spencer and Avi Barath. Their evocative debut EP Ideal Life saw the pair team up with the wonderful Dan Carey and arrived almost exactly a year ago to a warm reception. Yesterday, the pair returned with a brand new track and news of another EP, recorded remotely in collaboration with Carey over lockdown. Lead/title track 'New Light' is a haunting and stripped back affair. Perhaps best described as a waltz for self-help, churning 3/4 piano patterns give rise to Spencers nurturing lyricism. Spencer explains: “It’s simply a message to myself to live more in the present and stop imagining how things could be, especially nowadays when it's so easy to get distracted and compare yourself to other people”.
